Privacy

No cookies, no ads, no accounts. Just enough to know which stories people read.

What we collect

When you read a page, we record that it was viewed: the page address, the site that linked you here, your browser and device type, and your approximate country. We use this to see which posts are read and how people find the site. That’s all it’s used for.

We don’t use cookies, local storage or any other way of storing information on your device. We don’t build a profile of you, follow you across other websites, record your screen, or sell or share data for advertising.

How it works

Page views are counted with PostHog, running in its cookieless mode. To tell visits apart on a given day, PostHog combines your IP address and browser details into a one-way hash with a secret that changes every day, so the same reader can’t be recognised from one day to the next. Your IP address is used only to estimate your country and is not stored.

Our legal basis for this limited, anonymised measurement is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.

Who handles the data

PostHog Inc. processes page-view data on our behalf. The site is hosted on DigitalOcean, whose servers keep standard technical logs (including IP addresses) for security and reliability. Both act under data processing agreements, and transfers outside your country rely on standard safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

Your rights

Because we can’t link page views back to a person, there is usually nothing we could find, correct or delete about you. If you have a question or want to exercise your data protection rights, write to [email protected]. If you’re in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
